The 2008 Award Winners
The winners of the prestigious ASA HR Excellence Awards for 2008 - now in its seventh year - were recognised at a lunch at the Radisson SAS hotel in Glasgow on Friday 11 April, attended by approx. 200 human resources professionals from across Scotland.
Fiona Irvine, Human Resources Director of First ScotRail; David Roberts, Head of Human Resources of Wood Mackenzie, the energy consultancy; and Steven Taylor, who is Director of Quality and Human Resources, at Angus College in Arbroath, were all honoured for their work in the field of professional people development in Scotland.
Karen Lally, Chair of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Scottish Partnership, which supports the awards, said: "These are outstanding winners who deserve to take time out to enjoy their success. The panel of judges was highly impressed with each of the category winners and we are encouraged that people development is a central aspect for thriving Scottish businesses and institutions."
Iain Moir, Managing Director of ASA International, the recruitment consultancy, said: "In the seven years since these Awards began, they have continued to grow in strength and popularity. The winners demonstrate a high level of innovation, performance and of course, excellence for which these awards are associated. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the 2008 entrants."
The three categories of award represent a small-sized company, from 50 to 500 employees, a medium sized company, from 500 to 2,000 staff, and the large sized company, with over 2,000 people. The awards, sponsored by ASA International and supported by the Scottish Partnership of CIPD, are now recognised as the most prestigious awards honouring HR heads and their teams' contribution towards the achievements of their organisations.
